Markham, Ont. (Golf Canada) –Team USA got out to an early lead and never let it go, finishing with a team-total score of 17-under par 559 for the wire-to-wire victory at the inaugural World Junior Girls Golf Championship at Angus Glen Golf Club (South Course) in Markham, Ont.

The Americans (137-141-137-144—559) began Wednesday’s final round with a commanding 16-shot lead and went on to shoot a team-total, even-par 144 to capture top spot on the medal podium.

FAR HILLS, N.J. (Nov. 19, 2015) – The United States Golf Association (USGA) and Fox Sports have announced the premiere of their film celebrating the 2015 U.S. Open Championship.

Narrated by Emmy Award-winning actor Jon Hamm, the one-hour film, 2015 U.S. Open: Spieth’s Northwest Conquest, will debut in the U.S. on Thursday, Nov. 26 on Fox (approximately 4 p.m. EST; check local listings) following the NFL game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions.

The film will be rebroadcast at 4:30 p.m. EST on Sunday, Nov. 29, on Fox Sports 1.

FAR HILLS, N.J., USA and ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND (March 1, 2017) – The USGA and The R&A have unveiled a preview of proposed new Rules of Golf, as part of a joint initiative to modernize the Rules and make them easier to understand and apply.

The online release of this preview begins a six-month feedback and evaluation period during which all golfers worldwide can learn about the proposed changes and provide input before they are finalized in 2018 and take effect January 1, 2019.

FAR HILLS, N.J., USA and ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND (September 7, 2017) - The USGA and The R&A have received comments on the proposed new Rules from more than 22,000 golfers in 102 countries, as well as representatives of golf organizations throughout the world, providing valuable feedback as the organizations work toward their implementation on January 1, 2019.

With the worldwide survey and evaluation period now complete, the USGA and The R&A and their respective committees will continue to review all comments received with the goal of finalizing the new Rules next spring and beginning a comprehensive education program later in 2018.

Variable-distance golf balls, courses that are more brown than green, hard and fast fairways, slower greens and balls with chips embedded in them that you will always be able to find.

Those are just some of things Mike Davis, executive director of the United States Golf Association, sees in golf’s future.

FAR HILLS, New Jersey — Chambers Bay, in University Place, Wash., has been selected by the United States Golf Association (USGA) as the site of the 2019 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. The dates of the championship are May 25-29.

The Home Course, in DuPont, Wash., which is cooperatively owned and operated by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) and the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA), will serve as the stroke-play co-host.

The 2019 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball is the third USGA championship to be held at Chambers Bay, which is owned by Pierce County. The public facility also hosted the 2010 U.S. Amateur, won by Peter Uihlein, and the 2015 U.S. Open, won by Jordan Spieth.

FAR HILLS, New Jersey (USGA) — The United States Golf Association will host the 2017 North American Golf Innovation Symposium on March 6-7 at the Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Downtown in Vancouver, BC, gathering leaders in sustainable facility management and sports research to share knowledge and advance the game.

Symposium attendees will discuss how research, science, and data can help golf facilities around the world reduce their costs, operate more efficiently and provide a better experience for golfers. Over two days, the USGA and other contributing innovators will share details of their ongoing work in areas such as resource management, golf operations, revenue management, pace of play and equipment standards.

             Pinehurst Resort & Country Club to Host Inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open™ in July 2022 

LIBERTY CORNER, N.J. (Dec. 3, 2021) – The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced the U.S. Adaptive Open Championship, a new national championship that will showcase the world’s best golfers with disabilities.

The inaugural competition will be conducted on Course No. 6 at historic Pinehurst Resort & Country Club on July 18-20, 2022. The 2nd U.S. Adaptive Open will also be held on Pinehurst No. 6, and will be conducted from July 17-19, 2023.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the first and second round pairings for the 2015 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. The 64th annual event will take place May 19-22.

First round play gets underway on May 19 at 7:30 a.m. EDT with defending national champion Coastal Georgia, along with Victoria (B.C.) and Marian (Ind.) starting on hole No. 1.

Beginning the day on No. 10 at 7:50 a.m. will be Zach Day of Mobile (Ala.), Kade Crossland of Corban (Ore.) and Daniel Thompsett of Rocky Mountain (Mont.). UBC's men are off the 10th tee at 9 a.m.

(July 20, 2017) - Jack Russillo, a senior-to-be at the University of Washington, has been awarded the 2017 scholarship by the Northwest Golf Media Association.

The $2,500 scholarship is to assist recipients in finishing their final year in college or university, and may be applied by the student toward tuition or school-related expenses. Russillo, a 2014 graduate of Orcas Island High School, is pursuing a double-major at the UW in International Studies and Communications (with an emphasis in Journalism). He’s on track to graduate in June 2018.

RENO, Nev. – Nevada women's golf coach Kathleen Takaishi signed three young players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period, with Vancouver's Leah John being one of them.

A break in the PGA Tour China schedule has Vancouver’s Stuart Macdonald back in Canada, where life outside the ropes is a little less stressful. Macdonald is a rookie on the PGA Tour China circuit and acknowledges it has been something of an adventure.

“It has been pretty interesting,” he says. “It's a completely different culture over there. Obviously, there is a big language barrier and just doing the simple things that we would take for granted here can be challenging.”

Tiffany Kong did something she hadn’t done in nearly six months this past weekend. She played in a golf tournament.

The Princeton University sophomore was the low woman amateur at the Vancouver Golf Tour’s Vancouver Open, played over 54 holes on the three City of Vancouver courses.

Kong swears her game is rusty, but it didn’t really show as she shot rounds of 73, 74 and 73. “Definitely showed some rust, especially around the greens and putting,” Kong said. “My feel wasn’t great.”

August was already shaping up to be a special month for Victoria Liu. Now it’s even better. The 18-year-old left-hander from Vancouver earned medalist honours at a U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship qualifier Tuesday at Seymour Golf & Country Club in North Vancouver.

She’ll be in the field at Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y., where many of the world’s top amateur players will gather for the 121st playing of the championship Aug. 2-8. Liu, who plays out of Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club, is off to Princeton University later in August to begin her studies and play collegiate golf at the Ivy League school.

(March 17, 2025) - Their team nickname is the Heat and the University of B.C.-Okanagan women’s golf team are certainly bringing just that as they get their spring season underway.

For the second straight week, a UBC-Okanagan golfer took home an individual title at a Las Vegas-area tournament. Second-year player Julia Alexander Carew won the Vegas Warrior Invitational this past weekend at Wildhorse Golf Course.

Her win followed last week’s victory by the Heat’s Emily Cornwall, who captured the RMC Intercollegiate at Lake Las Vegas played at Reflection Bay Golf Course.

Yvon Jeaurond, the Service Manager at the Victoria Golf Club for the last 10 years is a finalist for a very prestigious award in the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). 

As one of three finalists and the lone Canadian, there is still time for you to vote and name Yvon as the MVT (Most Valuable Technician) in all of North America. You do not have to be in the golf business or a member of the GCSAA to vote. Voting closes June 10.

A pair of Victoria Golf Club members made good use of their home-course advantage to earn spots in next month’s U.S. Amateur Championship. 

Jack Rothwell, the 2019 B.C. Amateur champion, and Craig Doell, for many years one of this province’s top amateurs, punched their tickets to what will be the 121st playing of the U.S. Amateur Aug. 9-15 at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.

Another Victoria resident, James Swan, claimed the third spot that was available for the 77 players who teed it up Monday.

There were times over the last four years, on those days when the wind was blowing hard and the rain pounding sideways, when the golf bags they were carrying seemed especially heavy.

But River Bristow and Tim Peacock soldiered on, knowing there was a potential pot of gold waiting at the end of their journey. And no, we’re not talking about the $40 tip they earned for most of their rounds working as caddies at Victoria Golf Club.

Bristow and Peacock, a pair of Victoria-area Grade 12 students, have earned something much more substantial than that.
