CHICAGO (MARCH 16, 2021) – A unique and exciting new professional golf competition is ready to take the world stage, as sports media and marketing firm Intersport announced the creation of the World Champions Cup, scheduled to debut in the fall of 2022.

Inspired by the passion and tradition of the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, the World Champions Cup will be a first-of-its-kind golf tournament featuring Team USA, Team Europe and Team World squaring off over three days of competition that will renew some of the game’s most storied rivalries as the teams battle for international pride and global bragging rights.

Victoria, B.C. (July 11, 2016) – World Golf Hall of Fame member Bernhard Langer committed to play the 2016 Pacific Links Championship, to be contested on Bear Mountain Golf Resort’s Mountain Course in Victoria, British Columbia, the week of September 19-25, 2016. The event will feature a US$2.5 million purse, with 81 players competing for a winner’s share of $440,000.

Langer, a two-time winner of the Masters Tournament, has notched 28 career titles on PGA TOUR Champions, which ranks third all-time behind Hale Irwin (45) and Lee Trevino (29).

The World Handicap System (WHS) consists of the Rules of Handicapping and the Course Rating System.

Scoreboards rarely tell the real story of a golf tournament and for five British Columbia girls who were selected to play at The Marshes for the World Junior Girls Championship, that could not be more true.

While South Koreans and Scandinavians dominated the top of the leaderboard, the Canadian girls, led by Alisha Lau, Kathrine Chan and Euna Han on Team Canada 2 and Hannah Lee, Tiffany Kong and Ontario’s Grace St-Germain on Team Canada 1, were the hometown favourites who bravely played on despite their golf games not being at their peaks.

Sammamish, Wash. - An impressive field of world-class amateur talent will converge on the Pacific Northwest and Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. for the 23rd Sahalee Players Championship (SPC), to be played July 5-7, 2017.

The championship will be contested over 72 holes of stroke play, with 18 holes being played the first day, 36 the second, and 18 on the third and final day. Admission is free to watch the championship.

The SPC took a hiatus in 2016 while the club hosted the 2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, won by Brooke Henderson in a playoff with Lydia Ko.

A qualifier to fill the final three spots was held Monday, June 22 at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash., with the three advancing to the championship proper being Adam Barker, a freshman at Olympic College in Bremerton, Wash.; R.J. Manke of Lakewood, Wash.; and Stuart Macdonald of Vancouver, B.C., a senior from Purdue University.

Portland, Ore. – The 12-person team representing the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) took a slim lead into the second day’s play and held on to win the 10th PNGA Cup.

The Ryder Cup-style matches were held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore., and featured 48 of the finest amateur golfers representing the Washington, Idaho, Oregon and British Columbia golf associations.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Absent from the top of the leaderboard for most of the day, the team from Wyoming blistered the back nine with nine birdies, one eagle and only three bogies to move into a two-way tie for the lead with Oregon after the first round of the 43rd-annual Junior America’s Cup.

They finished the day with a 10-under-par 206, two strokes ahead of British Columbia and three strokes ahead of Southern California.

SAN JACINTO, California — Young Pro Squad member August James of Bath, Ont., captured a two-stroke victory at the National Women’s Golf Association (NWGA) event at the Soboba Springs Golf Club.

James, 22, caught fire on the back nine of Thursday’s final round, posting four straight birdies to draw even on the day, leading her to victory over long-time friend and five-time Team Canada member Brittany Marchand of Orangeville, Ont.

Golf Canada in partnership with British Columbia Golf is pleased to announce the expansion of Youth on Course to British Columbia.

Youth on Course offers its members aged six to 18 access to golf rounds for $5 or less at participating courses during designated times.

The Youth on Course program will run for the duration of the 2023 golf season at participating golf courses in British Columbia.

PGA Tour Canada has released its 2023 schedule and as expected it includes only one British Columbia event, the season-opening Royal Beach Victoria Open which goes June 15-18 at Uplands Golf Club.

B.C. has had as many as three PGA Tour Canada events in the past. But the former tournament held at Point Grey Golf & Country Club in Vancouver was last played in 2019.

And the Kelowna stop at Gallagher’s Canyon in Kelowna ended after last summer’s event when GolfBC chose not to renew its sponsorship of the tournament.

(May 26, 2025) - The southern swing of the PGA Tour Americas circuit wrapped up in Bogota, Colombia, where Coquitlam’s A.J. Ewart capped a run of solid golf with a tie-for-third finish.

Ewart was pleased with that result but also proud of one other fact about his golf journey through South and Central America. He played in all six events, made all six cuts and did not shoot a single round over par.

“Someone told me that and I didn’t believe them so I went back and checked,” Ewart said over the phone from Bogota. “I shot even a couple of times, but every other round was under par.”

A.J. Ewart played his first RBC Canadian Open in 2022 when he was still in college and remembers feeling a little like a deer in the headlights. He was nervous. Really nervous.

Ewart’s first round began on the 10th tee at St. George’s Golf & Country in suburban Toronto and the butterflies in his stomach were in full flight.

“It is maybe the easiest hole on the golf course,” Ewart said. “And my coach who was caddying for me picked this small target and said, ‘let’s hit it to here’ and I said, ‘I am just going to tee it up and hope I make contact.’ I just wanted to hit the ball. I managed to do that, which was great, but I was really nervous the first two holes and then I settled in. But it’s going to be a lot different now.”

Back in the fall of 2020, Adam Niles finished second in his first event at Western New Mexico University and remembers thinking that maybe collegiate golf wasn’t going to be as tough as he thought it might be.

The 21-year-old Kamloops native chuckled as he recalled that memory following his first collegiate win at last week’s RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Ariz.

“It has been a long time coming,” Niles said in a phone interview. “As a freshman I came second in my first event and that kind of set the expectations pretty high. After that, it was like, okay, maybe I can actually do this and compete with the guys out here. I have just been trying to get better each day I have been here.”
