Richmond, BC (British Columbia Golf) – Team British Columbia is set to return to Portland, Oregon on August 8 – 10, heading Riverside Golf and Country Club to defend the title at the 46th Hogan Cup.

Under the guidance of coach Todd Spring, a team of four BC junior boys will compete against some of the top juniors from across the western United States in the 36-hole event.

The team of Akari Hayashi, Sumie Francois, Shirin Anjarwalla, Cecile Kwon, Euna Han And Tiffany Kong representing British Columbia Golf successfully defended the title they won last year at Pitt Meadows Golf Course by taking the 4 team international event held this year at at the Illahe Hills Country Club in Oregon May 27-28.

Team BC collected 14 out of the available 36 points, with 2nd place Washington 4.5 points back at 9.5 while host Oregon was 3rd with 6.5 and Idaho 4th with 6 points.

RICHMOND, BC (British Columbia Golf) – Team British Columbia returned to Lima to defend their title at the XXVI International Amateur Tournament April 23-26, the team finished fourth at +14 after four days of competitive play.

British Columbia Golf was represented by Kevin Carrigan and Brent Wilson at the Lima Golf Club in Peru. The pair beat 26 international teams.

Team British Columbia won the 45th Annual Junior America’s Cup, which was held this week at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash.

British Columbia, represented by Tristan Mandur, Keaton Gudz, Nolan Thoroughgood and Callum Davison, shot a final round team score of 2-over par 218 to finish the championship at 3-under par overall as a team. 

No other team finished under par as a team. Southern California finished in second place at even-par, and Team Utah rounded out the top-3 at 2-over par overall.

MAYNOOTH, Ireland — After getting off to a rocky start at the World Amateur Team Championships, Team Canada climbed the leaderboard during round two and three. The Canadian trio, consisting of Team Canada Amateur Squad’s Jaclyn Lee, Naomi Ko and Maddie Szyerk, will start the final day tied for 12th in the hunt the Espirito Santo Trophy.

Calgary’s Lee has been instrumental in boosting the team up the leaderboard carding rounds of 69 and 72 and a total of ten birdies against six birdies over the last 36 holes. The 21-year-old Ohio State amateur, who started the tournament tied for 75th, now sits T16 heading into Saturday’s final round.

22-year-old Szyerk, of London, Ont., fired her second 71 of the tournament to share a piece of 51st. Ko, who registered the third and non-counting score, is in a tie for 60th after posting rounds of 78, 70 and 75.

TSU, Japan – Canada Day was still a week away but there was reason to celebrate early for Team Canada’s National Junior Squad in Japan on Friday, June 24th.

The Canadian Junior Boys team – made up of Félix Bouchard (Otterburn Park, Que.), Ethan Wilson (St. Albert, Alta.), Cooper Humphreys (Vernon, B.C.) and Eric Zhao (North York, Ont.) – captured the 2022 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup with a two-stroke victory over Japan in the seven-team competition.

OTTAWA, Ont. — A well-accomplished field of competitors will take to Camelot Golf and Country Club from Sept. 11–14, for the fifth annual World Junior Girls Championship. In total, 57 athletes will represent 18 countries—including two teams from host nation Canada.

“With our partners, we are proud to offer a world-class event for girls of this age group, where there are fewer opportunities for international competitions,” said tournament director Dan Hyatt. “These girls are some of the best juniors in the world and we are thrilled to host them in a tournament where they can continue their growth and development.”

The 2021 Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship is underway. The Spirit brings together the best amateur golfers from 20 countries and six continents for three days of competition. Two female and two male amateurs from each country will play for a "chance at gold" in five concurrent competitions.

Canada is represented by Noemie Pare, Savannah Grewal, Johnny Travale and Henry Lee who is from Coquitlam, BC. At present the men and the combined team from Canada are leading the biennial event in Texas.

TOYOTA CITY, Japan – Team Canada Men’s Development Squad returns to the Chukyo Golf Club this week from June 14–17 for the 24th annual Toyota Junior Golf World Cup supported by JAL.

Leading the way for the Canadian foursome is Tony Gil of Vaughan, Ont., who will be returning to the event for the third consecutive year. In 2015, the 18-year-old University of Houston commit finished T10 to lead the Canadians.

He will be joined by teammates Charles-Éric Belanger (Quebec), A.J. Ewart (Coquitlam, B.C.) and Jack Simpson (Aurora, Ont.).

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Team Canada’s duo of Eric Banks and Tony Gil defied the odds on Sunday at the Los Lagartos Country Club, climbing back from a three-stroke deficit to keep the Tailhade Cup in Canada for a second consecutive year.

The comeback was sparked by Development Squad member Tony Gil of Vaughan, Ont., who posted a 1-under 70 for the day’s lowest score—boosting Canada to a one-stroke victory over runner-ups Brazil and Australia. Collectively, the Canucks finished at 7-over (149-139-145).

TORONTO/OTTAWA (March 22, 2020) – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), backed by their Athletes’ Commissions, National Sports Organizations and the Government of Canada, have made the difficult decision to not send Canadian teams to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer of 2020.  

The COC and CPC urgently call on the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to postpone the Games for one year and we offer them our full support in helping navigate all the complexities that rescheduling the Games will bring. While we recognize the inherent complexities around a postponement, nothing is more important than the health and safety of our athletes and the world community.

MEXICO – The trio of Canadian women is set to make its first appearance at the World Amateur Team Championship when action gets underway tomorrow at the Mayakoba El Cameleon Golf Club and Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club.

Representing Canada will be Maddie Szeryk, 20, of Allen, Texas, Josée Doyon, 23, of St-Georges-de-Beauce, Que., and Naomi Ko, 19, of Victoria. The Canadians will be paired with China and Spain for Wednesday’s first round, with Szeryk starting things off at 8:15 a.m. EST followed by Doyon at 8:25 a.m. EST and Ko at 8:35 a.m. EST.

PILAR COUNTY, Buenos Aires, Argentina – Team Canada’s Hugo Bernard saved his strongest play for Sunday’s final round of action at the South American Amateur, carding a 5-under par 67 to jump into a three-way tie for seventh place.

Bernard, a Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Que., native, recorded six birdies at the Martindale Country Club en route to finishing as the low Canadian at 6-under par. The 22-year-old trailed men’s champion Paul Chaplet of Costa Rica, who secured a two-stroke victory at 14-under par.

Douro-Dummer, Ont. (September 16, 2016) - Round three of the Canadian International Junior Challenge (CIJC) at Wildfire Golf Club, was nothing short of dramatic. The day started off bitterly cold, but by mid morning junior golfers were playing in nearly perfect conditions, with not a cloud in sight.

While Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) Team Canada led the pack for the majority of the tournament, it was not enough to claim the CIJC title. That honour went to the boys from Team England, who finished strong on the back nine to beat CJGA Team Canada by one stroke.

Federal Way, Wash. - Serving as the host golf association in the 12th Annual PNGA Cup held this past week at TimberStone Golf Course in Caldwell, Idaho, Team IGA ran away in the final day's Singles matches to seal their first victory in the history of the competition.

Team IGA (Idaho Golf Association) took a slim half-point lead going into the final Singles matches, after earning three points in the first round morning Four-Ball matches and 3.5 points in the afternoon's Foursomes matches.

Teams WSGA (Washington State Golf Association) and BC Golf (British Columbia Golf) were tied for second after Day One, at six points each, and Team OGA (Oregon Golf Association) was one point behind the leader.

(Federal Way, Wash.) – Team WSGA mounted a comeback in today’s Singles matches to win the 14th Annual PNGA Cup, held this week at the Crosswater Club in Sunriver, Ore.

This is the third title for Team WSGA in the 14-year history of the matches, which is a Ryder Cup-style competition featuring the finest 48 amateur golfers among the four allied golf associations that comprise the Pacific Northwest Golf Association – the Idaho Golf Association, Oregon Golf Association, Washington State Golf Association, and British Columbia Golf.

In Larry Gilhuly’s opinion, the three biggest issues facing the game of golf are pace of play, player enjoyment and economic sustainability.

Gilhuly likes to think he has the solution for all three. “The answer for all of these, in my opinion, are properly placed forward tees,” Gilhuly told the Annual General Meeting of British Columbia Golf at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Club.

For much of his 35-year career with the United States Golf Association, Gilhuly was all about agronomy. His formal title with the USGA is Agronomist, West Region. In other words, Gilhuly is an expert on growing grass. But in recent years, Gilhuly has become passionate -- very passionate -- about teeing it forward. And by forward, he means way forward. “This topic that I am talking about has got me fired up,” Gilhuly told his audience.

The 2016 Canadian Amputee and Disabled National Open (CADNO) is coming to Surrey, BC at the Northview Golf & Country Club from August 22-25, 2016.

The CADNO is sanctioned by the Canadian Amputee Golf Association (CAGA) and is a National Open Championship for Amputee and Disabled golfers, with participation of international players.

A Board of Directors, consisting of representation from various parts of Canada, operates the Association for the benefit of all amputees. CAGA’s priorities are to encourage more amputees to get involved with sport and recreation as part of their rehabilitation and future success going forward in life.

The ultimate achievement in men’s amateur golf would be to win the United States Amateur Championship.

This week in Paramus, New Jersey, an elite field of 312 of the top amateur golfers in the world will compete for the coveted Havermeyer Cup and the US Amateur title. There were 7,256 golfers who attempted to qualify at 94 different venues around North America.

Everyone entered had a dream to compete in the USGA’s men’s amateur championship.

VICTORIA -- Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Peru. Those are some of the places golf has taken Delta, BC's Mary Parsons the last few years.

The last week of August was not quite as exotic for the 20-year-old Parsons, who was a member of Canada’s four-woman team at the Astor Trophy competition held at Royal Colwood Golf Club. She only had to hop on a ferry to get there. It marked the end of what was a hectic summer for Parsons, the 2018 B.C. Women’s Amateur champion.
