AUSTIN, Texas (March 24, 2025) - It was a one-under 71, which under normal circumstances would not get Lauren Kim overly excited. She can shoot that type of round in her sleep. But this one was different. It came in difficult conditions with the wind howling in the final round of her team’s home event at the University of Texas Golf Club.

If ever there was an aptly named professional event for amateur great Jackie Little to appear in it has to be this one.

The LPGA Legends Cup taking place at the White Horse Golf Club in Kingston, WA this Friday and Saturday will feature several of the best known and accomplished LPGA stars over the last few decades. 

With an amateur record that has her already in both the BC Golf Hall of Fame and the PNGA Hall of Fame, Little is looking forward to teeing it up with and against some of the players she looked up to as an amateur player growing up.

British Columbia’s Stuart Macdonald (Vancouver) and Lawren Rowe (Victoria) teamed up to secure a five-stroke victory on Saturday at the Lima Golf Club en route to capturing the Peruvian International Amateur Championship - The XXIX Campeonato Internacional De Afficionados - and with it the prestigious Manuel Prado Cup.

The quest to earn Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada status resumes this week at The Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto, California, where 120 players will look to earn their cards to compete on the Mackenzie Tour this season.

Qualifying schools are supposed to be golf’s ultimate pressure-cookers, but so far they haven’t fazed Stuart Macdonald. The 23-year-old rookie pro from Vancouver has sailed through the first and second stages of the Web.com Tour qualifying school to earn a spot in the finals.

“Getting through first and second stage isn’t exactly the easiest thing to accomplish,” Macdonald said in an interview. “So to get to the finals and have a chance to play on the Web.com Tour is good. I am excited to get there and see what I can do.”

Tristan Mandur of Duncan, B.C., Craig Ronne of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Shawn Lu of Honolulu, Hawaii have been selected to represent the Pacific Northwest Golf Association at this year’s Morse Cup team competition, which will take place simultaneously with the 53rd Pacific Coast Amateur Championship held at the Championship Course at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Among this year's PNGA Player of The Year winners are Delta, B.C.'s Mary Parsons (Women's POY) and Richmond, B.C.'s Chris Crisologo (Men's POY).

The PNGA Player of the Year candidates are nominated by the various state and provincial golf associations that comprise the PNGA (Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington), and are selected by a vote of the PNGA Championship Committee and members of the Northwest Golf Media Association.

The Mid-Amateur category was created in 2012. The awards are officially presented at the PNGA Annual Meeting in the spring.

OAKVILLE, Ont. – Golf Canada is pleased to announce the four athletes selected to represent Canada at the Astor Trophy competition, scheduled for Aug. 29 – Sept. 1 at Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, B.C.

Canada’s team will include Mary Parsons of Delta, B.C., Noémie Paré of Victoriaville, Que., Emily Zhu of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Brooke Rivers of Brampton, Ont.

The Astor Trophy competition is held every four years between teams from Australia, Canada, Great Britain & Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa. Each country is represented by four female players and each country contests foursomes and singles match play in a round-robin format.

OAKVILLE, Ont. – Golf Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have announced the four athletes on Canada’s golf team nominated to compete at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

The Canadian athletes nominated by Golf Canada for the Pan Am golf competition—which runs August 8-11, 2019 at the Country Club Villa—were determined based on an assessment of world rankings and head-to-head results among those with a declared intent to compete.

On the women’s side, 20-year-old Brigitte Thibault of Rosemère, Que. has accepted selection to the Pan Am golf team and will be joined by Mary Parsons of Delta, B.C.

The opening round of the 31st Pacific Northwest Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship was held yesterday, September 1st, at Victoria, B.C.’s Bear Mountain Golf Resort on their Valley Course. The 54-hole championship is being conducted by Pacific Northwest Golf Association and concludes on Thursday, September 3rd.

Sean Fallows of Edmonds, Wash., Michael McAleer of Vancouver, B.C., and Craig Doell of Victoria, B.C. share the lead after the first round at three-under-par after each posted scores of 68 on the par-71 Valley Course.

Jonnie Motomochi doesn’t know if he is a victim of Donald Trump’s pledge to crack down on foreigners obtaining visas to work in the United States. He just knows he is out of a job that he loved.

Motomochi, a Delta native, had spent the last four years working as an assistant coach with Oregon State University’s men’s golf team. He got the job after graduating from OSU and spending four years playing collegiate golf for the Beavers.

The 33rd annual edition of the North Pacific Junior Ladies Team Matches are being held at Richmond's Quilchena Golf & Country Club this year and the squad from British Columbia are not only acting as hosts, they are looking to repeat as defending champions - for the fourth year in a row.

The team from BC were victorious in 2016 at Pitt Meadows GC, in 2017 at Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem, Oregon and again last year at the Rock Creek Country Club in Portland, Oregon. The North Pacific Junior Ladies' Team Matches (NPJLTM) will see squads from British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon and Washington competing May 24th - 26th.

Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash., and Rob Olson of Victoria, B.C. will head into the final round of the 31st Pacific Northwest Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship in a tie for the lead at two-under-par 140 after round two.

The Championship, taking place at Bear Mountain Golf Resort’s Valley Course is a 54-hole competition and is being conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA).

Phil Jonas is getting another crack at the U.S. Senior Open. Jonas played his way into the event for the second straight year, winning the lone spot up for grabs at a qualifier Monday in Sequim, Wash.

The 56-year-old Jonas, who runs a golf academy in his name at Hazelmere Golf Club in Surrey, shot a three-under 69 at The Cedars at Dungeness to beat a field of 51 players by two shots. 

“I played decently today after playing so poorly last week at the PGA of B.C. Seniors tourney,” Jonas said in a telephone interview. “I was happy with the way I played.

LAWTON, Okla. (Oct. 23, 2018) – Oklahoma Christian's Abigail Rigsby played brilliantly at Lawton Country Club, but she still needed to put on a steely display of endurance in a four-hole playoff for medalist honors.

The junior from Courtenay, British Columbia, capped her final-round 1-under-par 70 with her second career playoff win to take top honors in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate, leading the 15th-ranked Lady Eagles to a runner-up team finish in the 12-team event.

Roger Sloan wasn’t born Yesterday. Of course he knows who the Beatles are. Sloan, the 32-year-old Merritt product who is wrapping up a successful season on the PGA TOUR, laughs when the subject of the Fab Four is broached. “That is a funny story,” Sloan says.

It was at the John Deere Classic earlier this month when CBS golf analyst Peter Kostis suggested on air that Sloan, who was in contention that week, didn’t really know anything about John, Paul, Ringo and George. Sloan says that could not be further from the truth.

A group of Canadian hopefuls has been looking to advance through one of five Web.com Tour qualifying events across the United States from Oct. 30 – Nov. 9.

Field sizes at each event are approximately 75 players with no cut. The number of applicants advancing from each site will be on a pro rata basis (i.e., approximately the same percentage from each site will advance), and such number will be announced during the Second Qualifying Stage.

All applicants tying for the last qualifying position at the conclusion of play at each site will advance.

Tacoma, Wash. – For the seventh time in Northwest golf history, the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) and the Pacific Northwest Section PGA (PNWPGA) will conduct a joint Hall of Fame ceremony to honor inductees from each organization. This combined Pacific Northwest Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at Seattle (Wash.) Golf Club on April 27, 2024.

Their respective Halls of Fame recognize those who have distinguished themselves through outstanding playing accomplishments as well as contributions to the game in the region.

Being inducted this year for the PNGA are Shelly Stouffer of Nanoose Bay, B.C..; Dr. Jack Lamey of Bellevue, Wash.; and Bon Stein of Seattle, Wash. The PNWPGA will be inducting Doug Doxsie of Issaquah, Wash.

To say Shelly Stouffer was looking forward to her singles match with Oregon’s Lara Tennant at the PNGA Lamey Cup would be something of an understatement. 

Quite simply, it was a match Stouffer had wanted since learning she would be a part of Team British Columbia at the 15th playing of the Lamey Cup at Bellingham Golf & Country Club. 

On Thursday, Stouffer got her wish and delivered in a big way, defeating Tennant 4&3 in cool, wet conditions. “She’s the three-time reigning U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur champion,” Stouffer said after her win. “Why wouldn’t you want to play her?”
